For adult children and families

Helping You Navigate a Parent's Healthcare, Even When You Can't Be There for Everything.

Supporting an aging parent can feel like a second full-time job. Guided by Nurse offers independent RN-led advocacy to help you understand what's happening, stay organized, and feel more confident in every conversation with your parent's care team.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone

  • Your parent sees several specialists and you aren't sure they're all on the same page.
  • A recent hospital stay left the family with more questions than answers.
  • You're juggling work, your own family, and a parent's appointments, sometimes from far away.
  • Your parent's needs are changing and you're unsure what to ask or who to ask.
  • Family members have different opinions and communication is getting tense.

How an RN advocate can help

Understand what's happening

We help you make sense of the information your parent's providers have shared, and identify what to ask them to clarify.

Prepare for appointments

Organize concerns, priorities, and questions so every visit counts.

Coordinate across providers

Understand who is responsible for what, and help keep follow-ups and logistics organized.

Support through hospitalizations and transitions

Prepare for discharge, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and the return home.

Keep the family informed

Help family members share updates and agree on questions and next steps.

Honor your parent's voice

Advocacy that respects your parent's preferences, dignity, and independence.

Your advocate works alongside your parent's healthcare team, not in place of them. We don't diagnose, prescribe, or make medical decisions.

Common questions

Questions families often ask

Can you help me care for an aging parent?

Yes. Many clients are adult children helping a parent navigate multiple providers, appointments, and transitions. We help you stay organized and informed while respecting your parent's preferences.

Can you work with family members who live out of state?

Yes. Long-distance family members are an important part of who we serve. Much of our support can be provided by phone and virtually, which makes it possible to help from anywhere.

Does the nurse replace my doctor?

No. Your advocate works alongside your healthcare team, not in place of them. Your physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists remain responsible for your medical care.

Your Nurse. Your Advocate. Your Guide.

Let's talk about your parent's situation

A first conversation is a good place to start. There's no need to have everything figured out.

Guided by Nurse is not an emergency medical service. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek appropriate emergency medical care.
